Agence France-Presse (AFP), in collaboration with prominent digital and media entities, has launched the European Audio Data Space (EAD) project. The project aims to develop the continent’s first online marketplace platform for the exchange and commercialisation of digital audio content and podcasts powered by artificial intelligence.

Accessible in multiple European languages, the platform will strive to revolutionise the audio content industry across Europe, fostering collaboration, innovation, and the exchange of high-quality, trustworthy content among producers and consumers.

ENEX has launched its new AI assisted video distribution platform at a meeting of its partnership group at the European Parliament in Brussels.  The News Exchange Platform (NEP) is developed by BCE and is also being utilized by the European Broadcasting Union.

European Parliament signs agreement with private TV outlets

Ahead of the European elections on 6-9 June, the European Parliament signed on Thursday a Memorandum of Understanding with ENEX.

ENEX represents 55 private TV outlets. The partnership will deepen the cooperation between the two sides to ensure broad coverage of the European elections.

With the Memorandum of Understanding, the European Parliament and ENEX seek to strengthen the collaboration between Parliament’s communication services and ENEX’s headquarters, to increase awareness and cooperation of each other’s services and to fosterdirect contacts.

Young European Innovation Fund: Digital News Formats

We are looking for innovative digital video content formats to fund with up to €15,000 each to turn them into a reality.

These projects should create innovative and easily replicable digital video formats for young European audiences, addressing issues they care about, on platforms they use for news consumption. It could be TikTok, Snap, WhatsApp, YouTube shorts, X, Instagram, Discord, Reddit or anywhere you think that young people are and that high quality news information could be supplied in new, creative, accurate and interesting ways.

This project is part of a wider European Union grant awarded to ENEX to promote high-quality news information sharing in the EU.

AI-Based Video Distribution Platform to Boost News Exchange Across Europe and Beyond

An Enex led consortium has won a Euros 1.6m grant from the European Union to develop a next generation video distribution platform for its European and global news partners.  The project, called “Create and Exchange”, will utilize AI technologies to allow the rapid translation and transcription of video to multiple EU languages and enhance live news feed distribution.

ENEX signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the European Parliament in the run-up to next year’s European Elections

ENEX has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the European Parliament in the run-up to next year’s European Elections [May 23-26, 2019].

With Brexit approaching and volatile politics in many national elections, next spring’s European plebiscite is expected to be one of the most important and hotly contested in recent years. The MOU, signed by Jaume Duch, Director-General for Communication and Adrian Wells, Managing Director of ENEX, commits both organisations to cooperate in facilitating coverage of the elections for ENEX partners. Access to the EP’s audio-visual facilities, studios and interconnectivity is free for ENEX channels.

Attending the event were News Directors from CME stations including Venelin Pektov, bTV Bulgaria; Henrich Krejca, Markiza, Slovakia; Tjasa Slokar, POP TV, Slovenia; Kamil Houska, TV Nova, Czech Republic and Gabriela Popescu, Pro TV Romania.

ENEX and the European Institutions – Joining the Dots

If you’re a regular reader of our blog, you already know about the new connection between ENEX and the European Commission in Brussels, making it possible for the partners to book the Commission’s facilities and connect to the ENEX satellite space.

But now we’ve gone one step further by making a deal with the European institutions to switch the signal between the European Commission and the European Parliament MCRs, giving us a new option for all kind of transmissions between both locations and our MCR, where the signal can then be turned around onto our sat space or other connectivity solutions.

European Commission New Deal

European Commission studios and stand-up facilities are now connected to ENEX under a new deal struck between the Commission and a consortium including ENEX. The other parties include Luxembourg’s Telecom operator POST and RTL’s Broadcast Center Europe (BCE). Under the deal two HD lines will run to and from ENEX’s new headquarters at RTL City Luxembourg and the Berlaymont building in Brussels.

ENEX partners will now be able to book the free audiovisual services of the Commission and connect to our satellite space or other connectivity solutions. Read more

Live and Direct – ENEX Partners at the European Parliament

In the six months since ENEX held its one-off production seminar at the European Parliament, on-the-spot lives by partners have increased dramtically.
